What exactly is primary care?
Primary care is a patients’ first step into the healthcare system and is the prime point for all needed health care services. Primary care provides disease prevention, health promotion, patient education, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses.
Why should I visit primary care?
Simply having primary care will keep you healthier as you age. You will establish a relationship with your provider and you enhance that relationship year after year. At your yearly wellness exam your provider will educate you about your health and the two of you can work together to prevent future chronic illnesses.
What should I consider when looking for a primary care provider?
Your primary care provider should be someone you trust and can rely on to help manage your healthcare.
- Is the staff friendly and helpful?
- Is it easy to schedule an appointment?
- Is the office easily accessible?
- Does the office appear to be neat and clean?
How often should I see you?
Healthy patients should see a primary care provider for a wellness exam or physical at least once a year. Patients with chronic health issues such as, diabetes or heart disease, will see their physician more often.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Will I be reminded about my appointment?
You will receive your choice of an automated phone call, text message, or email 2 days prior to your appointment.
How can I pay for my visit?
We accept cash, checks, debit/credit cards, and care credit. Your out of pocket costs including copays are expected at the time of service. We participate with most insurance plans.
What if I have a question about my bill?
What if I need a prescription refill?
You may request your refill through our patient portal or by contacting our office two business days prior to needing your prescription.
What vaccines do I need?
Adults and children should receive a yearly flu vaccine unless there is a reason this isn’t advised.
A tetanus booster is recommended every 10 years.
Older adults should talk with their provider about a shingles vaccine when they reach age 60, and a pneumococcal vaccine to prevent pneumonia at age 65.
